March 2022 Employee of the Month:

Derek Haislip

​

Derek has been at Colony for 5 years now. He is currently a Paver Operator on Neil's crew. He has also been a Roller Operator during his time here. One of Derek's favorite projects was a road widening job we did last summer out in Appomattox.

​

Derek has twin girls, Hannah & Leah, who are 12 years old. He also has a son, Parker, who is 8 years old. Derek, his wife Lauren, and the kids live right near Bear Creek Lake and they all love kayaking together. Derek also loves riding ATV's any chance he gets.

​

Fun Fact: Derek's brother Justin is a Milling Machine Operator at Colony. Thanks to Derek's encouragement for getting Justin to apply here.

Our Paving Foreman, Neil Williams had great things to say. "He will do anything I ask him to do. He is my Paver Operator but he is a big help with the big milling machine. He got to stay on this winter and he did a lot of service to the equipment and washing the equipment. All around he is a very good employee."
