April 2023 Employee of the Month:

Sam Tackett

Sam has been with us at Colony since September 2022 in our Milling Division. He’s currently on Dylan’s Milling Crew.

 

Sam talked about how he really likes the people he gets to work with every day. Sam is happy that it’s almost officially summer. He loves being outside and also enjoys spending time outside when he’s not at work. He lives near Maidens Landing and loves fishing and kayaking when he can.

 

Sam was born in Indiana. Sam and his family moved to Virginia in 1993. He lived in Chesapeake for a while and ended up in Powhatan where he still lives today. Sam loves baseball and softball and played as a kid growing up. He now gets to coach his nephew’s team here in Powhatan.

 

Our Milling Foreman, Dylan Tyree added, “Sam has been a great help since he started. He works hard and picks up on things quickly. He stays busy from backpack blowing to picking and shoveling and even helping with raising manholes.”
